Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how MAXTV (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our website, our apps, and our streaming services (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Where this policy applies
This policy covers MAXTV on every platform we offer:
- the website and web player at maxtv.live;
- the MaxTV Live apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, Android phones and tablets, and Android TV / Google TV boxes;
- the MAXTV app for Apple TV (tvOS) — see section 8;
- the MAXTV apps for Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) smart TVs.
2. Information we collect
We collect only what we need to run the Service:
- Account details — your MAXTV username. Your password is sent over an encrypted connection to sign you in and is never stored by our apps or the website.
- Subscription data — your plan, expiry date, and the number of devices your plan allows.
- Device information — in our phone, tablet, Android TV, Apple TV and web apps: a random device identifier created by the app (on the web, stored in a cookie), the device name (for example “iPhone” or “Web · Chrome on macOS”) and the platform. We use these to show your signed-in devices and enforce your plan’s device limit. Signing out frees the device slot.
- Viewing activity — which channel or movie you open, used to build the Most watched and Popular rows. Resume positions, recently watched items and your top channels are kept on your device.
- Technical data — your IP address and standard request logs that our servers and stream servers receive when you connect, used for security and to keep streaming reliable.
We do not collect your location, contacts, photos, or advertising identifiers, and we do not use third-party analytics, advertising or tracking SDKs.
3. How we use your information
- To sign you in and give you access to live TV and on-demand content.
- To enforce your plan’s device limit and let you manage your devices.
- To show popular channels and movies, and to remember your preferences and resume points.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the quality and reliability of the Service.
- To contact you about your account, payments, subscription reminders, and important changes.
We do not use your data for advertising and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
4. Permissions our apps ask for
- Camera (phones and tablets, optional) — only to scan the QR code shown on a TV when you sign that TV in. Images are processed on your device and never stored or uploaded.
- Notifications (optional) — only for TV guide reminders you set yourself. Reminders are scheduled on your device.
- Network access — to stream video and talk to our servers.
6. How your information is secured
All traffic between our apps, the website and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Sign-in tokens on the web are kept in httpOnly cookies that page scripts cannot read. Signing in a TV by QR code works by pairing on our servers — your password is never shown to, or stored on, the TV. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data, though no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
7. Sharing with third parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate the Service (for example, hosting, video delivery and payment processing), only as far as they need it to perform those services, or where required by law.
8. MAXTV on Apple TV
The Apple TV (tvOS) app follows this policy, with these specifics:
- Signing in — scan the QR code on screen with the MaxTV Live app on your signed-in phone, or type your username and password with the Siri Remote. The password is sent over an encrypted connection and is never stored on the Apple TV.
- What stays on the Apple TV — your sign-in token, a random device identifier, your parental PIN and locked channels, recently watched channels and movies, and movie resume positions, kept in the app’s private storage. tvOS may clear this storage when the Apple TV runs low on space; you would then simply sign in again.
- What is sent to us — your sign-in, the device name “Apple TV” with its random identifier (so it appears in your device list and counts toward your plan’s device limit), requests for your channels, movies and account details, and which channel or movie you open (see section 2).
- No tracking — the Apple TV app does not use advertising identifiers, does not track you across apps or websites, and contains no third-party analytics or advertising code. It does not use the microphone, camera or your location.
- Playback — video plays through Apple’s own player (AVPlayer). Apple’s handling of data on your Apple TV is governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
To remove the app’s data from your Apple TV, sign out in Settings or delete the app.
9. How long we keep your data
We keep account and subscription data while your account is active and as long as needed for billing and legal obligations afterwards. Device records are removed when you sign out of that device. Viewing activity is kept only in aggregate for popularity rankings.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, or to ask us to delete your account, contact us using the details below.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. Parental controls let you lock channels behind a PIN.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
